Far more than 5,000 people were booked for targeted traffic violations which includes riding two-wheelers without having helmets, driving automobiles without having putting on seat belts and making use of their cellular telephones while driving through the Pongal holiday seasons in Cuddalore.
Whilst the Cuddalore district police booked 1,386 folks for many visitors violations on January 15, as many as 1,421 and 2,199 have been booked on January 16 and 17 respectively.

Superintendent of Law enforcement M. Sree Abhinav said that the law enforcement stepped up checks throughout the district which led to an enhance in the amount of instances booked. Groups attached to 46 police stations were stationed at vantage points across the district to check for violations.
Mr. Abhinav explained that the greatest violations were of not donning helmets by riders accounting for 3,586 situations. This was followed by not putting on auto seat belts (221), sign violations (179) and employing cell mobile phone when driving (151).
